My bad, too. It wasn't a Sapphire 4870 I saw for $299, but rather a Palit.
ReplyDeleteAre you really getting 8GB RAM. Holy cow... crazy sauce. Photoshop heaven.
Looks pretty tight... you've really got me considering a quad core now... I think it could really help with ripping, encoding and tagging (all at once) all my CDs.
And a tasty FSB overclock to 1600MHz on a Q9550 would be, well, tasty.
But then there are fan noise/heat dissipation problems, not to mention the primary concern; budget.
Sigh.
I do enjoy these types of dilemmas, however.
My latest incarnation (or should I say dream?) goes something like this (prices from Umart):
Antec p182 case: $193
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 $523 ($432 from MSY)
2x 1GB G-Skill 1600Mhz CL7 DDR3 $189
Gigabyte GA-EP45T-DS3R MoBo $179 ($169 from MSY)
Samsung or Pioneer drive (haven't decided yet) $26-$32
Vista Home Premium 64 Bit OEM $159
For a total of $1269 (from UMart) or $1168 (with MSY parts, although this stuffs up buying an OEM copy of Windows, so I dunno).
Of course, I will be sticking in it my Seagate 500GB HD Drive, my MSI NX8500GT video card, my Corsair HX620w PSU, and my Leadtek PXDVR3200H Video Capture Card - all of which are currently sitting under my desk.
Oh, and I was hoping to add some cooling from CoolPC), too.
CPU Cooler: Thermalrite HR-01 Plus $61
Case Fan and/or CPU Fan: Noctua NF-S12-1200 $26
GPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 rev 2 $37
This cooling will probably come later... when I want to overclock, or if the PC is still too loud, and when budget allows.
Speaking of budget, I would also like a Logitech Dinovo Edge, but the $170 price tag kinda scares me away.
Now that I am considering overclocking a Quad core, I will probably have to re-research the CPU cooler fan combo.
But I like doing that, so I don't mind.
